Well, we did used to say that "biscuits- AB" stood for "biscuits - anal blocking".

Headshot, the OLD fruit biscuits were great, just like big garribaldis but the new ones, yuk! They are rock hard and the nice, soft bits of fruit look like they have been replaced by dead flies.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Really?! Tsh. Damn shame. They used to be great, and had strange regenerative properties.

Biscuits Brown - best bit of a Rat Pack (although the Oatmeal Block is close). They can be eaten with anything - I even threw them in a stew once and they were surprisingly nice!!

chucking biscuits in a stew is nothing new ;)
I think I've got a recipe for a WW1 trench stew somewhere that included a few pieces of hard tack....next to a bit of Corned beef, a cut-up turnip and if your lucky a bit of beef stock.

The picture wasn't very appetizing :)

We put chocolate in ours at the last "chindit" training... :) That's as well as the biscuits...

New British Rat Packs apparently have Yorkies in saying "not for civillians"!.

We used to tell people that every 5th rat pack had laxatives in it to keep you regular but you don't know which is the 5th, so if sharing who knows what might happen!

I was a fan of the pate in the small round tins. The hot chocolate could not be beaten, even by any generic coffee chain!

I've still got a box full of Rat Pack odds and sods.

The Yorkie stories are true - they have a picture of a man in a suit in the forbidden sign instead of the girl on the civvy versions.

The pate is like cheap cat food, so I stay clear of it, but the chocolate powder is worth fighting over unlike the screech powder (orange or lemon). :?

I too have a large bag of rat pack spares - mainly brew kit stuff, but I do have a boil in the bag Treacle Pudding I'm saving for a special occasion! :D

I liked the old steak and kidney puddings! That was the days of Chicken in Brown Sauce and Tracle Pudding in tins! Bacon grill was fantastic, although it would leave your mess tins in a real state!

yup MAT as was in Beverley-had some amazing stuff in there! In teh archives there was this room that had stuff just piled -chucked into it! All sorts....grenades, fuzes, 2 sets of WW2 infa red known as Tabby, couple commando knives, tons of webbing all sorts. Had records of every single locomotive ever used by the army-plus their training kit from Longmoor (some of it extremely collectible 1920s model railways stuff), my personal highlight -and I wish I knew where it was now- were the complete records of 7th Bn East Yorks Home Guard -Brough bn which included South Cave platoon. It had EVERYTHING! Photos, attendance registers, battle maps, equipment inventories -the works-fantastic collection and I have no idea where it is now. It was a scandal that place! You could have walked out with stuff and no-one would have been any the wiser -plus on occcassion duplicate records were destroyed! Yup- we had maps of all the railway infastructure and some of these were chucked on a skip (this is over 10 years ago now). Anyway thats where I met the tins of self heating soup.

BTW for camp cooking my personal favourites have to be the tins of chilli you can get-silverado beef is nice-oh and if you fancy using Camp coffee be careful -a tablespoon is fine-half the bottle is not......

Ah the Old Babys Head...it was lovely and I had a thing for Posessed Cheese!! The new Brit Rats are horrible...all runny...like baby food. If you can get hold of Norwegian Ration packs prepare yourself for a veritable banquet. Tuna and Thyme, Spag Bol, Chilli, Chicken Supreme.....lovely stuff!!!
